Reincarnation
Reincarnation is the rite of letting go of this life’s labyrinth progress in exchange for permanent power. You keep your gold, gear and minions, and earn Death Sigils and Dark Essence — currencies that only Reincarnation provides — to grow your Relics and the Dark Covenant. Reincarnation is optional, and what you gain depends heavily on when you do it, so learn the rules here first.
The Gate of Reincarnation
Section titled “The Gate of Reincarnation”- Tap the Gate of Reincarnation in the village to open the rebirth screen. From here you reincarnate, enter the Relics and the Dark Covenant, and use Memory Reforge.
- The screen shows the Death Sigils and Dark Essence you’d get if you reincarnated now, your rebirth history and your Legacy Power.
- A single line also tells you how many floors you climbed this life, how far you are from a new record, and how much higher you must climb for Legacy Power to grow. Always read that line before you press Reincarnate.
Requirements
Section titled “Requirements”- You must fall at least once before Reincarnation opens. Until then, the gate only tells you that Reincarnation demands a death.
- Your first Reincarnation becomes available once you’ve made at least a little progress into the labyrinth.
- Before your first Reincarnation, the First Death offers it when you hit a wall. Choose I accept and it guides you to the gate; choose Not yet and it steps back with the gate left open. You can always walk to the gate yourself whenever you like.
- From your second Reincarnation on, you must wait a while after the previous one. The remaining time shows as “Rite of Rebirth returns in,” and it keeps counting down while the game is closed.
How to reincarnate
Section titled “How to reincarnate”-
Press Reincarnate at the Gate of Reincarnation. If the rite is still cooling down, you’ll just see the time remaining.
-
Choose what to keep in the Seal of Memory. Pick the level-up cards from this life to carry into the next, then press Seal and Reincarnate. If you didn’t pick any cards this life, this step is skipped.
-
Read the confirmation. It lists what you keep, what resets, and the stage your next life resumes from.
-
Your new life begins. You start again in the village, and floors up to your waypoint can be selected right away.
What you keep and what resets
Section titled “What you keep and what resets”| Category | Details |
|---|---|
| Kept | Gold and gems, gear and runes, minions (unlocks, levels, stars, awakenings, fragments), Relics, the Dark Covenant, the Necropolis of Dominion and your per-floor grade records, the Book of the Dead, rescued allies |
| Reset | Labyrinth progress (floors up to your waypoint stay open), your level and level-up cards (except sealed memories) |
| Gained | Death Sigils (for Relics), Dark Essence (for the Dark Covenant) |
Rewards
Section titled “Rewards”- Death Sigils: The higher you climb above your waypoint this life, the more you get. Beating your lifetime record adds an extra share, and the level you reached this life counts a little too.
- Dark Essence: If you climbed even one floor above your waypoint, you get a base amount; beat your deepest lifetime record and you get more, scaling with depth. If you didn’t climb any floors this life, you get no Dark Essence.
- See Relics & the Dark Covenant for how to spend them.
The waypoint
Section titled “The waypoint”- Your waypoint is the deepest floor you can jump straight into in your next life instead of climbing from the first floor again. It’s based on your best clear in the previous life.
- You need a reasonably deep record before a waypoint appears. Once it rises, it never goes back down, and it always sits below your best record.
- In a new life, heading straight to an uncleared floor within your waypoint range pays a one-time amount of gold for the floors you skipped.
- At the same moment, Waypoint Awakening lets you draft several level-up cards right away. A deeper waypoint means more cards, once per life.
Legacy Power
Section titled “Legacy Power”- Legacy Power is a permanent bonus that builds up over your rebirths and raises all your stats by a percentage. The rebirth screen shows its current value and how many rebirths counted toward it.
- Only rebirths that climbed well past your waypoint count. Reincarnating right after reaching your waypoint adds to your rebirth total but doesn’t grow Legacy Power.
- Legacy Power also boosts your Tomb Bell income.
Seal of Memory
Section titled “Seal of Memory”- Right before you reincarnate, you seal some of this life’s level-up cards (memories) to carry into the next.
- Sealed memories are already active when your next life begins, and you start at a correspondingly higher level.
- Sealed memories show up more often among your next life’s level-up cards. Sealing a wide variety makes it easier to rebuild your build next time.
- A memory’s depth (stacks) accumulates across lives. Keeping the stacks you already carry is free; your sealing budget only pays for new depth gained this life. There are limits on each memory’s depth, the number of kinds you can seal and your total stacks.
- If you don’t choose anything, the cards you picked most this life are sealed automatically.
- Memory Reforge at the Gate of Reincarnation lets you pay gold to swap one sealed memory for one of three other memories. Reforging the same memory again, or a deeper one, costs more.
Harvest Vessel
Section titled “Harvest Vessel”- The Harvest Vessel switches on after your first Reincarnation. You can see its remaining charges on the stage select screen.
- Each floor you clear uses one charge. Failed runs don’t use a charge, and the vessel refills over time.
- When the vessel is empty, repeat floors give reduced spoils. First clears always pay in full, and a clear made with your last charge also pays in full.
- Tap the vessel display and use Refill the vessel to fill it instantly with gems. There’s a daily limit on refills.
- Reincarnating after climbing at least one floor above your waypoint refills part of the vessel.
- During your first few rebirths, the vessel holds more and refills faster.
The Tomb Bell after reincarnating
Section titled “The Tomb Bell after reincarnating”The Tomb Bell’s offline income is based on this life’s best clear. Right after you reincarnate, it drops for a while and recovers as you push deeper again. See Doran’s Mine & Golems for more on the Tomb Bell.
When to reincarnate
Section titled “When to reincarnate”- Push until you’re stuck. The right time is when you can’t clear the next floor even after enhancing minions and upgrading gear.
- Check the guidance line on the rebirth screen. If it says you need a few more floors for Legacy Power to grow, climbing a bit further first pays off.
- Beating your lifetime record boosts your rewards. If a new record is within reach, give it one more try.
- Spend what you should first. Essence of Conquest and minion materials carry over, but only sealed level-up cards do. Plan which memories to seal ahead of time.
- Mind the cooldown. From the second Reincarnation on there’s a wait, so making full use of one life beats reincarnating many times quickly.
Common mistakes
Section titled “Common mistakes”- Reincarnating as soon as you reach the waypoint. With no floors climbed, you get no Dark Essence, no Legacy Power and no vessel refill.
- Thinking you lose your gear and gold. Gold, gear and minions all stay with you.
- Skipping the memory choice. Auto-sealing happens, but if you have a build in mind for next life, choose yourself.
- Repeating the same floor with an empty vessel. Head for floors you haven’t cleared, or do something else until the vessel refills.
- Being surprised when Tomb Bell income drops right after reincarnating. It’s based on this life’s record and recovers as you go deeper.
